Staying Safe – FREE refresher driving courses for the older driver

In association with Waka Kotahi (NZTA), Age Concern Kāpiti is delivering refresher driving courses for older drivers.  All course materials and handbooks are provided.

Light refreshments are provided, please bring your own lunch.

Classes consist of a combination of sitting, standing and walking exercises and run for about an hour. They are ideal for beginners, are ongoing and you can see how much you have improved over your first 10 weeks. New classes are established by one of our staff with the aim of becoming peer-led at the end of 10 weeks. Classes run in school terms only.

Kāpiti U3A was set up in 1993.  Approximately 20 Interest Groups are run during the year.  Groups may be weekly, fortnightly, or monthly and can run for a few sessions or the whole year.

Probus is an association of retired and semi-retired people who join together in clubs to provide regular opportunities to keep their minds active, expand their interests and enjoy the fellowship of new friends.  This is a combined Probus Club serving both men and women.

Our Shed is well equipped for woodworking projects as well as quite reasonable metalworking facilities. A garden group is also very active landscaping the site with retaining walls and raised garden beds with a good supply of produce being delivered to the local food bank.  Most of the activities undertaken at the Shed are for the local community and community groups.  There is also a small music group who will be looking forward to our new meeting facilities for their weekly jam sessions. Our building program is progressing well with our amenities block of toilets, kitchen and meeting room nearing completion.

Kāpiti Women’s Club is for like-minded women, of all ages, who live on the Kāpiti Coast. Monthly speaker, variety of interest groups including Book Club, Poetry Group, Discussion Group, Mahjong Group, Coffee & Chat, Rummikub, Stitch and Knit group and more.

The Raumati Bowling Club was formerly known as the Kapiti Bowling Club which was founded over 60 years ago. The club numbers were recently bolstered by the former Raumati South players who chose to join our club. The Bowling Club has two synthetic bowling greens and a large pavilion.

An informal group, who walk every week (wet or fine).  Walks are confined to the Kāpiti Coast District, from Paekakariki to Otaki. We generally walk for about two hours starting promptly at 10:00 am.  Our Walking Schedule is on our website.
